th IMG 3091th 100 2825th IMG 9043th IMG 0953The CHARITY Sailaday Ok is an  adventure therapy, it supports rehabilitation centres programmes that are helping people recover from addictions and trauma and abuse, by providing a unique, enjoyable and challenging outdoor sport activity of sailing as therapy.

Its Returnees Programme supports those that are liveing back in the community.

Sailaday Ok established 2006 has proved successful and changes people’s lives for the better.

Sailing is a challenging and fun way to develop self-confidence and change lives. It provides an intense, structured environment with defined boundaries and a clear common purpose: the successful completion of a voyage. Participants learn to manage themselves and interact with others, dramatically boosting their self-awareness and confidence, it is an educational, self-esteem enhancing and enjoyable pursuit. It offers participants an opportunity to increase personal awareness, physical competence, practice problem solving skills, communication and interpersonal skills.

We have targeted Outcomes.

  • Participants have proved that they are more likely to complete treatment as a consequence of the SOK experience.
  • Participants  report feeling physically healthier and feel more able/ responsible for taking care of themselves physically
  • Participants report improved self esteem, improved self reliance, improved communication skills and increased sense of hope.
  • Participants  report benefits from the experience of team work and co-operation and a more  positive attitude toward relationships

SOK works out from Falmouth Cornwall and takes groups of 4 at a time for 4/5 days nights per session, on a cruising yacht 33ft. Cornwall offers some the best sailing in Europe and has a most beautiful coastline, creeks and estuaries and many peaceful and remote anchorages, fascinating harbours which provide the perfect environment in which to reflect on the days achievements whilst moored overnight.

There is also a great range of wildlife to be seen including dolphins, seals, sharks and a variety of birds.

The Charity has the support of the Trustees, contracted professionals and volunteers.
