We work primarily with those recovering from addictions, abuse and trauma. Sailaday OK is available to a marginalised and alienated element of society, who we believe have a lot to give and have the potential to become valued members of the community at large. Statistical monitoring of our work over several years has shown that the majority of our participants belong to one or more of the following socially excluded groups; the unemployed, the homeless, ex-offenders and repeat offenders. In addition the majority of participants come from severely socially deprived neighbourhoods, in Cornwall or elsewhere in the UK. Typically our participants are referred to us from NHS or third sector Drug and Alcohol Residential Centres, and are at a stable stage of their recovery process. They are assessed to ascertain whether they will benefit from the Sailaday experience. Sailaday OK is an innovative, effective and fulfilling therapeutic approach which is aimed at supporting the difficult process of transition from intensive residential drug and alcohol treatment centres to living in the community. The experience of a Sailaday session can be life changing; it challenges participants to adopt new ways of viewing themselves and their relationships, but challenges them in a supportive way |
