Sailaday OK: Analysis of the role of a marine wilderness therapeutic activity in stress management
A trauma approach to stress is taken here; it is conceptualised as an affect regulation difficulty, the best response an individual can make because they are currently „unable to process…life‟s experiences‟ (Parker Hall, 2008).
It is the Sailaday OK project‟s contribution to this strengthening of the integrated Adult ego state that can substantially reduce the potential for enduring stress and subsequent addiction because the individual‟s capacity to process and come to terms with their many ongoing life experiences is enhanced.

Analysis of a marine wilderness therapy for recovering addicts
This research uses theoretical concepts, from Transactional Analysis (TA), to consider how a /3/4/5 day marine wilderness therapy programme aboard a yacht managed by charity Sailaday OK, integrates the healing potential of the natural environment and psychotherapy to provide an experiential learning opportunity that elegantly supports recovery from addiction. The work is monitored and evaluated. This research was compiled from informal interviews and feedback from participants the agencies and care teams. The results are also monitored by specialist trustees and form quantitative and qualitative evaluations .edinborough_pres.pdf

This article uses theoretical concepts, mainly from Transactional Analysis (TA), to consider how a 2/3/4 day marine wilderness therapy programme aboard Physis, the 33ft Westerly yacht of Sailaday OK, a Cornwall based charity, integrates the healing potential of the natural environment and psychotherapy to provide an experiential learning opportunity that elegantly supports recovery from addiction. The project currently accepts referrals from secondary treatment centres and aftercare services.
